Learning2gether

Archives INDEX for 2009-2015-present

Learning2gether has been getting teachers together for online "class-roots" professional development on a weekly basis since its first "speed geek" in 2009.

Most events are recorded and archived in the following spaces:

At one of our mid-week events in February 2013 Cintia Costa brings Ayat Tawel from Egypt, Maria Bossa from Argentina, and Vance Stevens from UAE via Skype into her class in Belém, in the Brazilian Amazon

When I tried to post on Scoop.it at the beginning of this year, https://www.scoop.it/t/learning2gether

I learned I had reached the end of my free posts and would have to either pay $15 a month to continue posting or delete 151 posts. This Scoop.it had posts from 2009. I didn't feel it was worth putting $180 a year into this aspect of this altruistic and unfunded project.

I decided to delete, thereby obliterating the lovely tableau of Scoops before 2016. I feel that the power of Scoop.it is for the present though. It keeps the social network alive at its head, and what's happening at the tail end 3 years ago looks nice but is somewhat irrelevant.  Sorry to have been forced to do that, but it's the nature of the beast, and need to feed it. This index serves almost the same purpose though. It provides the same links as Scoop.it did, but not so attractively.

  • Sunday, March 20: Many who create content for online or blended learning environments seem to be spending large amounts of time creating sophisticated content at the expense of another approach to instructional design that places the emphasis on creating engaging activities, using existing content already available on the Web,  and exploring the possibilities of integrating user generated content. Join us for a discussion on these issues at noon or 13:00 GMT, this Sunday, March 20th.

Writingmatrix at K-12 Online Conference, Oct 22-26 , 2007

October 22-26, 2007 - The Writingmatrix group Vance Stevens, Nelba Quintana, Doris Molero, Saša Sirk, and Rita Zeinstejer were accepted to present “Motivating Student Writers by Fostering Collaboration through Tagging and Aggregating” at the K-12 Online Conference “Playing with Boundaries,” http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=162.

  • Abstract: "The presenters play with boundaries through the simple expedient of having student bloggers in different countries tag their blog posts with the unique tag term writingmatrix. Searching on that tag in Technorati, the student bloggers in four locations in three different countries have managed to locate one another's posts, leave comments for one another, and have subsequently interacted in other ways as well. The presenters explain how they started the project and how it has branched into other online and even face to face activities involving the students in the participant countries. The presentation is made not only through the voices of the presenters, but with the students themselves lending their voices through their blogs and videos." Presentations at this conference are all asynchronous except for the live chat events. The presentation itself can be found at these web artifacts:
